i just finished writing a song for the “Singularity” compilation. i like it. it’s kind of unusual. used an e-bow for many of the guitar parts, and the drum part is a bit different than what i’ve done in the past. 

i have another song i’m working on which is about, hmm, 35% complete, which i’ll be heading into the studio at the end of this month to record both. 

so i just want to close this rather useless update with an answer to a question i got, and have gotten a few times in the past. i’ve been asked, “so what’s the point of this?” i think it’s a very good question. everything that requires as much time, passion and as much of oneself as a project like this requires, there must be a point. 

the best thing i can think of is actually a seemingly flippant remark i made once and it goes something like this: “some people like to play golf. i like to make records.” which is to say the passion i have for this is just that a passion. there is no grand scheme or plan to turn this into “making it big” in any fashion. i don’t want to make a name for myself in the music world. hell, i don’t even use my name. i just want to make records, have the odd song used in a the odd independent film and just keep it very close. 

yeah, i will just keep on keeping on. it’s all i can do.
